Community Outreach


Newport Lutheran Church reaches out into the community in many different ways.  Below are a few of the ways NLC is impacting the community and the world.

  • Serve Monthly Community Dinners the second Saturday of each month.
  • Serve at Loaves and Fishes in the Frogtown neighborhood
  • Free Bread Distribution on Wednesdays from 9:00 – 11:00
  • Collect school supplies for Friends in Need Food Shelf
  • Collect gloves, mittens, hats, and scarves
  • Adopt families at Christmas
  • Monthly Mission Emphasis
  • Blood Drives held four times a year
  • Adopt-A-Highway – clean up the highway twice a year
  • Relay for Life – participate annually in the S. Washington Country Relay for Life
  • Servant Sundays – held periodically throughout the year.  After a short worship service the congregation engages in a service project together.
  • Quilters make quilts and donate them to organizations such as Lutheran Social Services, Lutheran World Relief, etc.
  • Night to Unite is held at Newport Lutheran Church each August for the people in the community.  There are games, food, and music.
  • Volunteer to staff the homeless shelter, Hope for the Journey Home
